Ok, I got my letter, now what should my student do?
Your student should attend an informational meeting held in early September to find out more information on completing the NHS membership form. The date, time, and location of the meeting will be posted in the daily bulletin. Please make sure you listen carefully and attend the meeting. If you miss the meeting, please see Mr. Iberg for information.  The 2020 meeting will be held on Friday September 11th at 7:45 am in the media center.

How will I know if my student is eligible to be in NHS?
Eligible student's will receive a letter from the school in June notifying them that they meet the grade requirement (cumulative 3.25 GPA) making them eligible to apply for NHS membership.

How many community service hours does my student need to complete in order to apply for NHS?
Your student needs to complete a minimum of 25 community service hours and submit the service hour sheet with their application.  Service hours may be dated back to September 1st of the previous school year.

How should my student keep track of their service hours?
Please print off a service sheet off of the NHS website.  All service hours need to be documented on the NHS service hour sheet.  Students may contact Mr. Iberg if they have any questions.

What happens if a National Honor Society member violates a MSHSL rule?
Although no member can be automatically dismissed from NHS, violating a MSHSL rule can be grounds for dismissal. A hearing will be held with the member, parent, NHS Adviser, and faculty committee. This is the member's opportunity to speak about the action. The faculty committee will decide what the consequence is.
